Shareholdings declared by federal MPs and Senators in the Parliamentary Register of Interests. Updated periodically as politicians lodge declarations.
Under parliamentary rules, all federal MPs and Senators must declare their financial interests, including shareholdings, within 28 days of election and within 28 days of any material change. The register is updated continuously throughout the year.
Why it matters: Politicians with knowledge of regulatory decisions, government contracts, or policy changes may hold stocks in affected companies. Cross-referencing parliamentary holdings with ASX short positions can reveal interesting divergences — e.g., a politician holding a heavily shorted stock.
